H is for Holiday

| April 15, 2014

Holidays are the center of our calendars. We organize our year based on which days the holidays we celebrate fall.  Each holiday even seems to have a symbolic hold over the season it comes with. Sometimes we look forward to certain holidays and other times we don’t. Either way we give authority to these days above others. They are the ones that usually remain engrained in our memories years after.  We even use art to document and celebrate these days. From videos, music, photography, cards, painting or theater there are uncountable forms of art focused on holidays. These art forms further encourage the uniqueness of holidays. Yet, with out capturing the holidays in art forms would they be distinguished from the everyday (thinking of documentation of an experience after class)?

Speaking of holidays for those who celebrate this week (depending which), Happy Easter! Happy Passover!
