U is for Utopia

As a painting major before, I often used turpentine oil. I remember looking into my oil container to see how much evaporated and would pour in just enough for that day.

Learning about the infamous art critic Greenberg’s concepts of the Abstract Expressionist “brushstroke” I did a very simple play on it – to create a brushstroke that would soon disappear.

But this very simple gesture of making a disappearing brushstroke  was more about the ephemerality of life and the endless brushstrokes of labor we do to reach the utopia.
